Seeking God’s Wisdom

Week 1 – Day 2

Seeking God’s Wisdom

Story

Maria had a habit of making quick decisions and then asking God to bless them afterward. At first, it seemed efficient. She was capable, organized, and used to being the one who could figure things out. But when a family conflict grew worse because she kept reacting in her own strength, she realized she had been leaning on her own judgment more than on God’s wisdom.

One afternoon, she sat quietly and admitted that she often prayed only when she felt stuck. That honesty opened something in her heart. She began to see that wisdom was not just about knowing more; it was about depending more. She started asking God for direction before speaking, deciding, or correcting anyone, and slowly her home became calmer. The more she asked, the more she learned to trust.

Scripture

“If any of you lacks wisdom, you should ask God, who gives generously to all without finding fault, and it will be given to you.” (James 1:5)

Application

God does not grow tired of your questions. In fact, He invites them. Wisdom begins with humility, because asking for help is a way of admitting that you are not meant to carry every decision alone. This is especially important when your first instinct is to act quickly or defend yourself.

When you slow down and bring your choices to God, you make room for His peace to shape your words and actions. He can give you discernment that goes beyond your feelings in the moment. The goal is not to become more impressive, but more teachable.

Daily Challenge

Before making any decision today, pause and pray, “Lord, give me wisdom.” Write down one situation where you need God’s direction, and wait before acting.

Prayer: Father, I need Your wisdom more than my own ideas. Teach me to ask before I act. Amen.
